Eliminating Negativity & Choosing Positivity

I did not get to post at all last week and I'm so sorry about that y'all!! Life just got very hectic with Christmas and late minute shopping and just everything that comes with that wonderful holiday. I also happened to get sick on Christmas Day, of course, just my luck. I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and got to spend it with friends and family!! Today is January 1 of 2018!!! That's crazy!! I can't believe 2017 is already over!!
My family went out to eat for my little sis' birthday a couple days ago. While we were waiting for our food, the topic of the new year came up. My mom began to tell us how one of her coworkers decided to choose one word (or phrase if needed), to live by for 2018. She asked all of us what we wanted to be our word, and while at the time we all gave humorous answers like "ketchup" (good one baby sis lol), I have now chosen what word I am choosing to live by for this new year- positivity.
As 2017 was coming to an end and people started posting about how their year had gone, I had noticed I'd seen a lot of negativity about the year. Many people were complaining about all the bad things that had happened throughout the year, as opposed to being thankful for the good things. While it is inevitable for bad things to happen, we must also appreciate all the good things that came from the year.
This year, to me choosing positivity means looking on the brighter side of things. Instead of finding something to complain and be negative about, I'm going to look for a way to be positive about it. No matter what the situation, I'm going to try to find something positive about it, no matter how hard that may be. I think that forcing this type of thinking will be hard at first, but as the year goes on, will eventually get easier. I'm hoping that in doing this, I bring more positivity and happiness into my life, and the lives of those around me.
Regardless of when you are reading this, whether it be the same day I post it, or months down the road, I challenge you to think of one word, or phrase, to make your 2018 about and see how it can impact your year!!
