Growing up, I was raised a Catholic. I had never questioned it because it was just what I knew, I never had any doubts because I was told from a young age what to believe. It wasn't until my freshman year of high school that I ever really struggled with doubting what I believed.
My freshman year, my best friend died tragically. I would always ask "Why her?" and say things such as "this just isn't fair". I began to lose all of my faith in God, after all, I had been taught my entire life that he has the power to control everything, so I wanted to know why he would take her away from her friends and family, especially so young. I stopped going to church every weekend with my family and I became very angry. This time caused me to fall into a very dark place.
It was through this time, that I turned to my dad, my grandma, and my uncle to confide in. I would bring my doubts to them, hoping they could provide me a concrete answer to all of my questions. While they were unable to answer all of these questions, they were able to help me better understand God's work. It was in talking to them that I finally was able to truly recognize that God truly has a plan for the very first time. I didn't just believe it because I was told to believe it, I believed it because God had somehow proven it to me, between losing Kelsey, and providing me a strong support system.
I believe that God has a plan for each and every one of us. Every single person has a purpose. We are all here and alive for a reason, whether we know that reason or not. We are never going to know all of the answers until it is our time and God calls us home. In the meantime, we must trust in him that there is a reason for everything that happens throughout our lives.
The picture for this blog has four symbols. These symbols stand for "God is greater than all of our highs and lows". I like this because it states that no matter what we're going through, whether it be good or bad, God is above it. God is more powerful than any problem we may be facing. No matter what point you're at in your life, whether it be your highest high or your lowest low, keep faith in the Lord, because when life changes and things shift from good to bad and vice versa, God is going to stay by you no matter what. His love for us is unending and unconditional and that itself I think is just the greatest feeling.
